Congrats again on signing up for Clozemaster! 🙌 We are incredibly excited that you joined and we can’t wait to see you at the top of the leaderboards, rapidly improving in your target language. 🚀
To help you get there faster, we’ve designed this series of emails to cover some super helpful language learning tips as well as show you how to maximize your results and get fluent faster using Clozemaster.
Let’s start with vocabulary. The foundation of learning another language.
The two keys to learning vocabulary fast and remembering it forever are:
Context
Repetition
By context we mean seeing the word how it’s used in a sentence, rather than simply studying the dictionary version or using single word flashcards. Context allows you to connect a word to other words, and exposes you to grammar along the way - both help you learn fast.
Repetition, repetition, repetition. Repetition helps you get that word to stick in your long term memory so you never forget it. Repetition.
Clozemaster helps you with both. Every word you see will be in context because Clozemaster only uses full sentences. And repetition? Clozemaster uses a spaced-repetition system to help you learn more efficiently.
Here’s how it works - you play a sentence, and if you answer correctly, it’s set to review a day later. If you get it correct again, then it’s set to review 10 days later. Correct again? Review it 30 days later. Then 180. Then every 365 days. If you get it wrong at any point, the sentence is set to review immediately and the cycle repeats. And those are just the default intervals - Pro users can customize the intervals to how they learn best.
“Ok got it. But where do I start?” Most language pairings on Clozemaster offer the Fluency Fast Track, and it’s probably the best way to get started.
The Fluency Fast Track presents sentences in order of difficulty according to a frequency list for your target language. A frequency list is just a list of words ordered by how often they typically appear. So the Fast Track helps you learn the most common words first, and gets into more difficult vocabulary (in other words, less common) as you play.
No Fast Track? No problem. Jump into the Random Collection. As more sentences become available for that language we’ll get the Fast Track added.
Alright that’s enough for today! A language is best learned by using it, or playing it when it comes to Clozemaster. Look for another email tomorrow, and until then - see you on the leaderboard!
